The government is not the answer. Not to your debt problems, what kind of car you drive, or how well you prosper. And it certainly is not the answer to the healthcare issue. When the government gets involved with how healthcare is handled, it's an invitation to disaster.
Dave recently spoke with David Asman and Liz Clayman on the Fox News show Bulls and Bears about President Obama's push for healthcare reform.
Three key points to remember here are:
• Healthcare is not a basic liberty. – Because you breathe, you have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. You don’t have the right to healthcare unless you work for it and contribute to something.
• We have to get back to personal responsibility. – You eat too much, you get fat. You can’t have someone else take the blame for you. By the same token, you can’t expect someone else to take care of you. Be accountable for your own well-being instead of handing it off to Washington and saying, “You take care of this.”
• Health Savings Accounts (HSA) are a great thing. – This type of plan, where you put money into a tax-deductible savings account and pay a high deductible, puts healthcare control back in the consumer’s hands and can help keep prices in check. Don’t you want to have a say in your own healthcare policy instead of the government doing the “saying” for you?

The following is the current hot-topic issue regarding OK giving a 50% tax credit for the purchase of an electric vehicle. The buzz is being caused by people tagging golf carts as street legal and getting our tax dollars to subsidize recreational toys for well-off residents to golf, hunt, cruise around the lake house, etc. For the record, I know of no constitutional power that the government, state or federal, has to appropriate public tax dollars to skew what should otherwise be free market economics.

Just so that you know, there has been a 3 year drought in this part of California which is bad in and of itself, but apparently that and a problem with the way California issues water rights, has become made a million times worse by the fabulous environmentalists. These people are concerned for smelt. Tiny fish that get caught in the intake pipes and, well, die. This has caused the Federal government to mandate that water is rationed in the San Joaquin valley, creating a nightmare for local farmers. Why do we care? Because this particular region of the country grows more food than anywhere else in the country. Can you say higher food prices anyone?
