Back in the mid 90’s a certain well known First lady penned a book with the title “It Takes a Village”. The premise of the book was that it takes more than the nuclear family to raise a child “properly”. While I can agree that we are all influenced by our environment, I will also contend that this certain First Lady was implying that it takes a very intrusive federal government to tell parents how… when…and where, to properly raise their children. This was and is all part of the national, nay, world gravitation toward forced dependency on central bureaucracies in every facet of our existence….You wouldn’t be on this web site if you agreed with that philosophy.
What we would like to do is acknowledge that we could all use a little help from one another when things don’t go as planned. We would also like us to get back to the true meaning of “It Takes a Village”. Church, friends, and neighbors are the true “Village”. The church part you can, and most likely are, handling on your own. We have the beginnings of a help network here within this group. Our Working Groups, our Family of Families.
These are People that believe in the America we once were, the America we can be again. Not an America where the citizenry is encouraged to rely on a central government to provide for its every need. Down that path we lose all capacity for self reliance…and it follows that when that central government falters or fails to provide us the quantity or quality of whatever it is that we need…we will no longer have the capacity to do it for ourselves. That is where they want us…totally dependent. So let us explore ways in which we can start right now, today, to regain and maintain a certain level of self sufficiency, of independence
