Representative Dan Burton Fights to Help Navy Seals with Petition
“What kind of a signal does this send to every military person in the field if, when they capture a major al-Qaeda terrorist, or anyone, if they say they have a bloody lip, you’re going to court martial them?” said Rep. Dan Burton (R.-Ind.) who was the first to start a petition to help the SEALs.

Lord Monckton Barred From Copenhagen Conference – Pushed To the Ground By Security Once again, conscious that a police helicopter with a high-resolution camera was hovering overhead, I thrust my hands into my pockets in accordance with the St. John Ambulance crowd-control training, looked my assailant in the eye and told him, quietly but firmly, to take his hands off me. He complied, but then decided to have another go. I told him a second time, and he let go a second time. I turned to go and, after I had turned my back, he gave me a mighty shove that flung me to the ground and knocked me out.

Inhofe: Obama Cannot Make Climate Deal WASHINGTON – US President Barack Obama is heading to the Copenhagen climate talks with empty promises on curbing US greenhouse gas emissions that he cannot fulfill, a top lawmaker said Sunday.
"He doesn't have that power to do that. And people in other countries don't realize that," Republican Senator James Inhofe, a leading critic of global warming legislation, told Fox News Sunday.

Protestors stifle climate skeptics' free speech A group of U.S. youth activists has shut down a speech by climate skeptics in Copenhagen. The video was posted by Youtube user SustainUS and features a spokesperson from Americans for Prosperity, Tim Phillips. Phillips was attempting to deliver a live webcast from Copenhagen on climate change skepticism when he was drowned out by shouts from youth activists from the United States.

ClimateGate in Perspective: The Road Ahead The public threat issued on December 10 by an unnamed Obama administration official to Congress is even more reprehensible. In an effort to pry loose so-called cap-and-trade legislation before the ClimateGate revelations (and more to come) derail it forever, the official said: “If you don’t pass this legislation, then...the EPA is going to have to regulate in this area. And it is not going to be able to regulate on a market-based way, so it’s going to have to regulate in a command-and-control way, which will probably generate even more [economic] uncertainty.”

The Totalities of Copenhagen Global warming and the psychology of true belief.
Here's a partial rundown of some of the ills seriously attributed to climate change: prostitution in the Philippines (along with greater rates of HIV infection); higher suicide rates in Italy; the 1993 "Black Hawk Down" battle in Somalia; an increase in strokes and heart disease in China; wars in the Middle East; a larger pool of potential recruits to terrorism; harm to indigenous peoples and "biocultural diversity."

Is Obama Really Preparing For Civil War? According to an obscure report in the European Union Times (EUTimes.net), “Russian Military Analysts are reporting to Prime Minister Putin that US President Barack Obama has issued an order to his Northern Command’s (USNORTHCOM) top leader, US Air Force General Gene Renuart, to ‘begin immediately’ increasing his military forces to 1 million troops by January 30, 2010, in what these reports warn is an expected outbreak of civil war within the United States before the end of winter.

Put the Brakes on this Omnibus! Christmas came early for some states in the form of bike paths, textile research, even training for the next generation of meteorologists. (I wonder if they'll be able to forecast the national debt...) For those of us in the pro-family business, it's more than a little ironic that Congress calls it an Omnibus, since it's becoming the biggest vehicle for social change. Check out the major values shift underway in H.R. 3288:

A FairTax Hearing in the House Ways and Means Committee The FairTax has the potential to quickly heal the national economic crisis, create millions of needed jobs, attract trillions of dollars of new investment into our economy, and a establish tax system that is fair, simple, and transparent. These merits of the FairTax serve as a powerful rallying cry to those who elect members of Congress serving on this and every other Congressional committee. With the help of hundreds of thousands of FairTax supporters, we will be bringing these arguments to the Ways and Means Committee over the coming months.

My Congressman went to D.C. and all I got was this stupid crab pot… Now don’t get me wrong. Learning to weatherize your home is an important skill for everyone—including African Heritage Dancers—to learn. But should it really take $935,000 stimulus dollars? Heck, I’ll change your water heater for a cool half-mil. Unfortunately, this is just one of the 50,000 projects raking in part of the $787 billion American Recovery plan. While Congress debates a stimulus sequel, Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) have released a list of 100 worst abuses in the Recovery Act. (Do yourself a favor. Don’t eat before reading). When you can barely scrape together enough money for your phone bill, it should give you a warm feeling to know that somewhere in Arkansas, kids are playing with their new iPod Touches. (You shouldn’t have!) Here are some of the highlights. Apparently, a mind isn’t the only terrible thing to waste on Capitol Hill.

Wow. This is great! I am so glad we’re looking into a whole new health care/insurance system! There’s no money to be recovered from fraud apparently, nor is there any reason to suspect that the Federal Government will take kickbacks or allow fraud in their system…oh that’s right…Medicare is a FEDERAL SYSTEM!!!
Fraud suspected in Miami-Dade diabetes care Medicare paid $520 million to Miami-Dade home healthcare agencies for treating diabetic patients, more than what the agency spent in the rest of the country combined, according to federal investigators.

Reality: We are on schedule at Copenhagen to complete the first of a two-step negotiating process designed to finish a new international agreement well in advance of the end of the first commitment period for the Kyoto Protocol in 2012.

The real inconvenient truth; The whole world needs to adopt China's one-child policy
The "inconvenient truth" overhanging the UN's Copenhagen conference is not that the climate is warming or cooling, but that humans are overpopulating the world.
A planetary law, such as China's one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.

U.S. Christians Hold Mixed-Up Beliefs . . . large numbers of Americans engage in multiple religious practices, mixing elements of diverse traditions. Many say they attend worship services of more than one faith or denomination -- even when they are not traveling or going to special events like weddings and funerals. Many also blend Christianity with Eastern or New Age beliefs such as reincarnation, astrology and the presence of spiritual energy in physical objects. And sizeable minorities of all major U.S. religious groups say they have experienced supernatural phenomena, such as being in touch with the dead or with ghosts.

"One of the central goals of this administration is restoring fiscal responsibility." --Barack Obama
"[T]he truth of Christmas is tested in Washington as we move toward some sort of semi-universal health care against the near-unanimous opposition of Republicans. Given the chance to be shepherds or angels, they chose instead to be Herod. Spooked by the victory of Barack Obama, they decided to fight him on all fronts, even though Americans will die as a result." --NPR's Garrison Keillor

WORDS OF LIBERTY FOR THE WEEK:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Cycle of Democracy follows this sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty (rule of law);
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage (rule of men).
(Attributed to Frasier Tytler)
"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States." --Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, 1787
"Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capacity, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence." --Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833
