I posted the following on the Tea Party website. The protest movement has a big problem regarding Republican leadership--nice, good people, but clueless about how to get aggressive and win these 2010 elections. In 2004 I called the RNC and asked them to use the fact that the war on terror had to be won overseas or it would come here. Their reply was that this was fear-mongering!!
If all the protestors who went to D.C. would contribute just HALF the amount they spent on the Washington trip toward getting our candidates elected, we would have several hundred million dollars! That is besides the money that people who didn't go would contribute.:
"Michael Steele was on Hannity last night and failed the test. Wasn't sure Republicans are ready to lead, wasn't sure we can win. The RNC has been weak for years. Folks, we will lose these elections if we can't do better than this!! We need Palin or Huckabee to start negotiating with the status quo RNC to insert our leadership by at least threatening a third party. Then we need to get Hayworth to run against McCain and support Hayworth with money and time. We can do the same for the 8 House Repubs who voted for Cap & Trade!! Such races will change McCain and all the "Status Quoers" for life! We can win or lose in 2010. We have to try to win, and this will be a start toward winning. The general election is less than TEN MONTHS away--primaries much sooner than that. "

You made a great point: "If all the protestors who went to D.C. would contribute just HALF the amount they spent on the Washington trip toward getting our candidates elected, we would have several hundred million dollars! That is besides the money that people who didn't go would contribute."
I wrote the RNC, RNCC, and the RNSC earlier this year that they needed to get 25-30 million to start donating the cost on one pizza or a twelve pack religiously every month. That they should think big and start getting a $100 million A MONTH income stream. However, I caveated they they must consistently stand up and support/declare Constitutional based principles.
Instead, I still got their silly "surveys" asking for donations and phone solicitations even when I sent all three of them the regular donations I advocated in my (several) letters. Now I see on the news that donations are well down for the Republicans, probably because of the feckless opposition on so-called "Health Care Reform" and perhaps no fully supporting Conservatives in the NY, NJ and VA races.
Right now, my wallet is closed -- except directly for candidates in local races.
