For those that are not familiar with what the Family of Families concept is all about, I will give you a quick education. It is a simple idea, really. We want to find ways for us to help take care of one another on many different levels. We already do that for our immediate family. Many of us also belong to churches that have various levels of outreach to its members and the community. We certainly don't intend or desire to replace this existing network.
Some area of focus include emergency preparedness, food production, processing and storage⦠We are hoping to set up community gardens that members share the labor and expenses, but then also share the bounty from the garden.
It is important to know what are our resources and where they are located? We are organizing a data base of 9-12 member businesses in the area. The intent is to help like minded business owners who share and believe in the 9 principals and 12 values survive in hard economic times. This database will be shared with all 912 members, not just the FF membership.
As this concept continues to grow, we will be organizing a business list of members of the local group and eventually around the state. For example, what if you were driving to Tulsa and your car breaks down and you find yourself needing to buy products or services in that town, would it not make sense to buy from a fellow 9-12er.
On another level, if things get much worse economically and some of our members begin to lose jobs or take severe pay cuts, how do we help? If we have a database of individuals showing their location and the various skill sets they possess, we can direct the person in need to the individuals who can help.
Many of us feel our country is heading down the wrong road, that we could be facing difficult times very soon. If you are of the same mindset and want to get involved, you can contact me at Mike@okc912project.com
