ARTICLES and ACTION ITEMS OF INTEREST:
What the Dems Know: Universal Voter Registration In January, Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank will propose universal voter registration. What is universal voter registration? It means all of the state laws on elections will be overridden by a federal mandate. The feds will tell the states: 'take everyone on every list of welfare that you have, take everyone on every list of unemployed you have, take everyone on every list of property owners, take everyone on every list of driver's license holders and register them to vote regardless of whether they want to be ...'
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/01/what_the_dems_know_universal_v.html
Please contact your STATE legislators and ask them to consider authoring additional sovereignty legislation in response to “Universal Voter Registration”. This coupled with federal immigration reform (amnesty) will be yet another big nail in the coffin of our republic.

States Fight Back - In addition to 27 states that have already taken legislative steps to combat the Congressional Democrats’ health care bills, and the 13 state Attorney Generals who joined together to fight the constitutionality of issues such as the Nebraska “Cornhusker Kickback” on Medicaid payments, states are also preparing to take legal action against the federal government if certain controversial provisions are enacted into law.

Petition to recall LA Senator Mary Landrieu The blog And So It Goes in Shreveport notes that a petition to recall Senator Mary Landrieu has been accepted for filing by the Louisiana Secretary of State. Citizens have 180 days to file enough signatures to get this on a ballot:

There is something you can do to stop Obamacare Nothing would be more unexpected, or more immediately helpful to the American people, than if Republican State Senator Scott Brown could pull of the mother of all upsets and capture the special election for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat on January 19th. A Brown victory would deny the Democrats the 60 votes necessary to shove through the takeover of the nation’s health care system.

Full-body scanners won't make air travel safer: Surveillance expert The new scanners "see" through clothing, allowing the operator a look at naked passengers. They have been called a "shocking" invasion of privacy by civil liberties groups and an ineffective measure by aviation security watchdogs. In countries such a Britain, they have been found to breach child pornography laws if used on minors.

Poverty Is Not a Cause of Terrorism, Radical Islam Is During the Progressive Era in America (1900-1920), it became common to excuse crime by blaming the crime on the environment in which the perpetrator was raised rather the evil within the perpetrator’s heart. Even the most heinous of acts could be overlooked if it could be demonstrated that the one who committed the act was raised in a home with an abusive father, a low appreciation of education, or even worse -- poverty.

Merge the 'Terror' Lists to Prevent the Next Attack I’d be as enthusiastic as Chertoff about body-screening if it would give us a 90+% chance of stopping the next attack. But it won’t. The terrorists will simply change their methods to outwit the machines. (In one memorable terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia, the bomber bore a large explosive suppository, causing his own and other’s deaths.)

Muslim children training for jihad (video) Another video from the “Muslim world” and more evidence that Islamic violence and jihad are not some fringe element. Interspersed with readings from the Qur’an and featured on Muslim blogs and boards, nor is it some non-existent extremist or radical version of Islam. This website follows news and information on radical Muslim. There are some horrifying videos on this site that just illustrate in full life size that we are in a fight for our lives.

FUNNIES OF THE WEEK:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"I think it was a mistake to take health care on as opposed to continuing to spend the time on the economy." --Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE)
- - - After being bribed with $100 million in Medicaid savings for his state in a "cash for cloture" deal, Nelson provided the 60th Senate vote for health care. We're glad he's come around, but talk about too little too late.
From the Patriot Post
As if the failed undi-bomber wasn't bad enough Christmas news for jihadis, this New Year's note just came in from the Department of Premature Detonation: "Fourteen suspected terrorists died Tuesday night when the bus they rigged with explosives blew up prematurely," CNN reports. "The explosion occurred as the suspects were riding the bus in the province of Kunduz," Afghanistan.
- - - - Around our humble shop, we like to call this sort of incident "self-solving." More to the point, however, it sounds like these jihadis had a bad case of ED -- explosive dysfunction.

WORDS OF LIBERTY FOR THE WEEK:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"As on the one hand, the necessity for borrowing in particular emergencies cannot be doubted, so on the other, it is equally evident that to be able to borrow upon good terms, it is essential that the credit of a nation should be well established." --Alexander Hamilton, Report on Public Credit, 1790
"[A] rigid economy of the public contributions and absolute interdiction of all useless expenses will go far towards keeping the government honest and unoppressive." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Marquis de Lafayette, 1823
