If you missed last week's 9-12 meeting, you missed an evening of dining, socializing, and learning.
In the tradition of most 9-12 meetings, the evening featured a special guest, Miki Booth from GOOOH pronounced GO, and it stands for "Get Out Of Our House."
What exactly is GOOOH? Per their pamphlet: "It is a NON-Partisan plan to evict the 435 career politicians in the U.S. House pf representatives and replace them with everyday Americans just like you." "GOOOH is not just another political party. It is a system that will allow you and your neighbors to choose, among yourselves, the person who can best represent your district."
How does GOOOH work? My basic level of understanding is that district voters complete online surveys of 100 issue and opinion questions, and a candidate acceptance consensus forms through a series of elimination rounds.
A participant could be selected as a potential candidate in any of the rounds, but no obligation is required. At the conclusion of all the rounds a consensus candidate is chosen as the GOOOH candidate and has earned a place in the district race. It would appear that such a system requires large numbers of highly motivated, energetic citizens.
One concern raised at our meeting was the possibility that a GOOOH candidate in conservative districts would take votes from the Republican candidate thus continuing the assault on freedom and liberty. Several members suggested that the goal should be to restore and repair the Republican party and return it to its conservative roots.
Miki Booth is vying to be the GOOOH candidate for the second district where Dan Boren is the current representative. If she wins the GOOOH nomination, she will face him and the republican nominee in November's election. Will she take votes from the Republican candidate thereby ensuring Boren's win? You decide.
Tim Cox of Texas is GOOOH's founder. He has been actively educating the public through ongoing television and radio interviews, and other outlets. Most recently he spent an hour on air with our own Mark Shannon, and spoke at last week's Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee meeting. He is garnering serious media attention and is impressing many people with his ideas for reforming government by selecting representatives as our founding fathers intended.
Mr. Cox certainly has a novel idea with admirable goals. Only time will tell if it is a credible alternative to the current system and if it helps or hinders our effort to "take back America." For more information go to GOOOH.com.
